October Intake (Putin’s dupes)
Reading Time: < 1 minute
We’ve seen them on their departure: Young men, older men, all someone’s son, husband, father – all now one; now Russia’s final sacrifice; and all to assuage one man’s vice. They shuffle together, now close in their cheap uniform clothes; all their individuality ironed out for the coming fight, for which they are ill-prepared. The lucky ones will run scared; the rest will come home in coffins. © D G Moody 2023
